In This Moment recently released a lyric video for its new single, "Whore," in which lead singer Maria Brink appears seated on a stool, nude, wearing a dunce cap with the song title written on it. Brink explained toZoiks! Online about the video, "The reason why I did that is because, to me, there's nothing more vulnerable than being nude. You know what I mean? It's a scary thought, and everybody has their own insecurities, and to place myself in kind of that being punished place with the dunce cap on the stool and a degrading word written down me, I wanted to kind of place myself in that vulnerable thing to really kind of have a visual, strong message to go with the song."
Brink told us that the track is actually about finding one's own inner strength: "That song is actually very empowering to women, and men. That song is about knowing exactly who you are, falling in love with who you are, accepting who you are, and letting go of other people's perceptions on you -- what they expect from you, what they think you should be or not be. It's about people saying, 'Listen, I've lived my life, I've experienced this all, I know exactly who I am.' So the term 'I can be a whore' is very sarcastic."
- "Whore" is currently Number 19 on the Active Rock radio chart.
- The song is the latest single from the band's fourth album, Blood, which debuted at Number 15 on the Billboard album chart. The title track was the group's first-ever Top 10 rock radio hit.
- The group plays this Friday (November 22nd) in Salt Lake City and winds down the first leg of its Hellpop tour next week in Los Angeles, but will launch a second leg on January 2nd in Portland, Oregon.
