Silversun Pickups have released a new song called "Cannibal" from the band's upcoming compilation The Singles Collection, which is due out on February 25th. In addition to all the singles issued from the group's three studio albums, the CD contains material from their earlier EPs. Frontman Brian Aubert told Rolling Stone, "All these songs are just a part of our fabric and we perform them all often, which keeps them current. So we have modern memories attached to them as well as the historical ones."
- The Los Angeles act got their start on Los Angeles' hot Silverlake music scene, and bassist Nikki Monninger told us a while back that the Pickups took a few years to fine tune their sound before breaking out: "It was about four or five years before we put anything out. I'm glad we have done it this way, because I think that we really got to come into our own before everyone else could listen. It was great to just perform, you know, in Silverlake for a few years and really develop our sound before we put it down." ."
- Aubert said there are no plans to get back into the studio at the moment, explaining, "We'll start working on the next album when we all come to the conclusion that it's time. We never know when that'll be, but personally, I hope it's sooner than later. I have a lot of weird ideas that need to come out."
