The Ryman on April 15th was a good starting point for Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. That was the first night of their Carnival of Madness Tour and the first time that Lzzy and Taylor had ever met each other.
When Lzzy was asked my Louder Noise on her thoughts of Taylor, she said,
“She’s one of those true, just right-down-to-her-core rock and roll chicks . . . this day and age, everyone’s, like, ‘I don’t know. I need a single, and I need money. I have a house. I need…’ It’s really neat to see her, more or less, just really just be herself out there, and I think that she’s one of the few — male or female — that does that nowadays.”
“I’m telling you, she’s so incredibly rock ‘n’ roll, and I’m saying that not from the fact that she’s, you know, famous because I’ll tell you what: it’s wonderful to see a girl that’s not in it for the money, not in it for the fame, because she’s already done that, she’s already had all that. She’s literally going up there every moment of every day because she needs to do that. So it’s very cool to see.”
And most importantly….
“I know she’s 21. To be 21 again and finish a bottle of whisky and then go out there and sing amazing . . . I used to be able to do that. I can’t anymore.”
