Welcome to 2018, where Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and Baby It’s Cold Outside are banned because we hit a nerve on the easily-offended. I thought we’ve made it through the worst of it, but here’s another story to add to the list.
A elementary school principal in Nebraska has banned candy canes from her school. Not because of the high sugar content, but because it’s shaped as a “J,” and she believes that its “J” shape stands for “Jesus.”
According to New York Post,
“Decorations including Santa, Christmas trees, reindeer, green and red items,” were not acceptable either.
“Historically, the shape is a ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection. This would also include different colored candy canes.” [The prinipal wrote in.]
Can we just band stupid people all together!?!
