The Killers buck the COVID-19 tour postponement trend and say they’re full steam ahead

ABC/Randy HolmesDespite a myriad of acts postponing or outright cancelling their tours amid the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, The Killers assert they are going full steam ahead.

In an Instagram announcement on Thursday, the “Caution” act told fans “We’ve been putting this tour together for a long time and we are extremely excited to finally share it with you.”

While they admit they have been paying “close attention” to guidance issued by worldwide leaders and health officials, the band said that they “trust that the coronavirus is expected to follow traditional flu season patterns.”

With that, they confirmed they don’t have plans to push back their tour. “We look forward to a great summer of shows,” the Grammy-nominees assured fans.

The Killers kick off their summer tour on May 28 in Falkirk Stadium in Grangemouth, UK.

The band also added a humorous anecdote to fans about preventing further spread of the virus. “Look after each other,” the band said in closing, “Sing the chorus of ‘Mr. Brightside’ when you wash your hands.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly recommend spending at least 20 seconds washing your hands to help protect yourself against COVID-19. So, if you don’t want to sing “Happy Birthday” while washing your hands, you now have a new tune to hum.
