Middle Class Rut Reflects On Band’s Career And Celebrates New Single Release

2010 was 10 years ago, even though sometimes it feels like 100 years ago, but still it’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since Middle Class Rut released “No Name No Color“. The record had huge radio hits like “New Low” and “Busy Bein Born” and the band was gearing up to celebrate the anniversary with a tour. Sadly with shows not happening in 2020 the band had to put a hold on the anniversary plans for now, but MCR have always been known to love their fans, and they gave fans some new music to hold them over until the tour can take place.

Originally released on vinyl late last year, the band released a split single with Black Map digitally on June 5th. The single features two new Middle Class Rut songs, “Tax On Death” and a cover of The Sheila Divine song “Hum”.

“It was one of my favorite records in highschool, it was a really weird band to be on Roadrunner records and I knew what I could bring to it, so I thought it would be fun to cover it with our friends”, Zack Lopez said when he called into The Local Buzz on Sunday night.
Lopez also went into depth on Sunday night about the band’s long career, the ups and downs of major labels, living in LA and partying with The Osbournes, almost being in the band Lifehouse, and finally realizing after years of searching for a singer that Sean and him should just sing and be a 2 piece band.
“We just got so tired of trying to find singers and we just decided maybe we should sing, and it worked out for us in the end”, Lopez said.

Lopez said he wasn’t sure what the next year or so looks like for Middle Class Rut, but if they keep feeling excited about the music they’re writing, they’ll keep putting out new music. For now fans can enjoy the new split single and keep their fingers crossed for the “No Name No Color” anniversary shows happening eventually.
