The Verdict Is Still Out Over Who Cut Rod Stewart’s Set Short

The mystery over who cut Rod Stewart's set short in Plymouth, England on June 24th has yet to be solved.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Stewart told the audience that the lord mayor was at fault.

Lord mayor Mark Shayer told Plymouth Live that he was “horrified” to have been associated with the incident. He added that he had suffered verbal abuse.

Shayer argued, “To say I stopped Rod Stewart singing what is one of my favorite songs … it’s ridiculous.”

Meanwhile, fingers were also pointed at Plymouth City Council.

Plymouth City Council also denied being involved, saying neither thee city council nor the operators of the Home Park Stadium were responsible for the show ending.

A spokesperson said, “As with any concert, should a performer decide to end their set before the licensed curfew set out in the Special Events Certificate, it is not because of any decision made by the local authority or the venue.”
