We’ve made the mistake of watching Final Destination shortly before getting on a plane… A little turbulence is perfectly normal, but you can expect a lot more from this flight out of Nashville.
What even causes turbulence? Speed? Wind? Location? Believe it or not, there’s a turbulence forecasting company, and they just revealed a list of the most turbulent airline routes around the world. There were no routes in the US that made the Top 10, but they did identify the most turbulent route possible in the country, and it flies right out of BNA.
According to Turbli, the most turbulent route in the US is from Nashville to Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina. They said, “When you’re flying between Nashville and North Carolina, you’re going over the highest peaks of the Appalachian Mountains . . . but there’s a bigger issue: You’re also crossing the jet stream, which is like a river of fast-moving air.”
They also said the turbulence is typically worse over mountain ranges and airports near water. Read more about the results HERE.
