There are so many dating apps out there now… But the one feature that makes Bumble unique is that the woman has to initiate the conversation. If she doesn’t start the conversation in 24 hours, they’ll unmatch. But if she initiates and he doesn’t respond within 24 hours, it’s another unmatch.
But now, a complete app redesign will mitigate the requirement for women to make the first move.
The new app feature is called “Opening Moves,” which allows women to put questions on their profile, like “What’s your dream vacation?” to which men can respond.
New York Times says theĀ founder of Bumble created the app in 2014 because of her own personal experiences, and she thought the “women make the first move” will give women more control. Over the years, Bumble had been given negative feedback, making women feel like “a burden” or it’s “too much work” to initiate the conversation.
